Guadalajara, the "Pearl of the West", is Mexico's second-largest city and the epicenter of two of its most universal symbols: mariachi and tequila. With over five million inhabitants in its metropolitan area, it combines colonial heritage with a cultural and creative scene that rivals that of the capital.

Guadalajara's historic center brings together the cathedral with twin towers, the Teatro Degollado, and the murals by José Clemente Orozco in the Instituto Cultural Cabañas—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—one of the country's most beautiful architectural complexes. Just a few kilometers away, Tlaquepaque and Tonalá are meccas of Mexican craftsmanship, design, and ceramics.

Beyond the city, Jalisco offers extraordinary landscapes: the blue agave fields of Tequila, Lake Chapala—Mexico's largest inland lake—and the bay of Puerto Vallarta, where the Sierra Madre descends directly to the Pacific, creating one of the country's most dramatic coastal settings.

Jalisco's gastronomy is among Mexico's most beloved: birria de chivo cooked in stone ovens, torta ahogada bathed in dried chile sauce, tejuino served cold, and carne en su jugo are dishes that tapatíos carry with pride wherever they go.
