The National Fair of San Marcos in Aguascalientes is Mexico's largest and oldest fair—since 1828—and one of the 10 most visited in the world. With 10 million visitors over 23 days, the fairgrounds include a palenque, lienzo charro, gastronomic zone, amusement park area, and the mythical Pabellón de la República where concerts by Mexico's most important artists of the year take place.

History

It was born in 1828 as an agricultural and livestock fair in honor of the municipality's patron saint, San Marcos Evangelista. Throughout the 19th century, it incorporated bullfights and cockfights. In the 20th century it became a national cultural landmark with the addition of internationally renowned artists. The Aguascalientes bullring, inaugurated in 1896, is one of the oldest in active use in Mexico.

🗺️ How to get there
