Gran Premio de México F1

The Mexican Grand Prix of Formula 1 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is considered the most important international sporting event held in Mexico. The Stadium section—where cars pass at 300 km/h surrounded by 90,000 fans—is the loudest stretch on the F1 world calendar. Checo Pérez has turned the race into a national celebration: 400,000 people attend the full weekend.

History

The circuit is named after brothers Ricardo and Pedro Rodríguez, Mexican drivers from F1's golden age in the 1960s. The Mexican Grand Prix was first held in 1963 and had several cancellations until its return in 2015 with a complete circuit renovation. Sergio 'Checo' Pérez, born in Guadalajara, has transformed recent editions into national celebrations that surpass Monaco and Singapore in attendance.
