The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) is the most important window for Mexican and Latin American cinema to the world. Founded in 1986 by the University of Guadalajara, the FICG was born with the ambition of creating a space for independent Latin American cinema. Today it is the most important Spanish-language film festival in the world, a reference point for Hollywood, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video distributors. The Maguey Prize for Best Iberoamerican Feature Film is considered the most prestigious award in the Spanish-speaking world.
