GO MEXICOEventsFestival Internacional Santa Lucía

The International Santa Lucía Festival is the most important cultural event in northern Mexico, celebrated every year at the Paseo Santa Lucía in Monterrey — a 2.5-kilometer water canal surrounded by open-air stages that connects the historic center to Parque Fundidora. During 3 weeks in April, over 600 free and ticketed performances of performing arts, classical music, jazz, visual arts, and contemporary dance transform the Paseo into Mexico's largest cultural venue.

History

The festival was born in 2007 with the inauguration of the Paseo Santa Lucía as an urban regeneration project by the Nuevo León government. The Paseo's infrastructure, with 5 open-air theaters and 3 covered venues, was designed specifically to host large-scale cultural events. Monterrey, Mexico's industrial capital, reinvented itself as a cultural city with the Santa Lucía Festival as the centerpiece of that transformation.
